Alfonso Gomez-Rejon is an American film and television director who began his career as a personal assistant to Martin Scorsese, Nora Ephron, Robert De Niro and Alejandro González Iñárritu. He went on to second-unit direct for Ms. Ephron, Iñárritu, Scorsese, Kevin Macdonald, Ryan Murphy and Ben Affleck (on the Academy Award-winning Argo). Gomez-Rejon is best known for his second feature, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, which won both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. His most recent feature is historical drama The Current War, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Shannon. Gomez-Rejon’s TV credits include episodes of “Glee” and “American Horror Story,” and more recently, Amazon Prime Video’s “Hunters” with Al Pacino, Logan Lerman and Lena Olin. He received Emmy nominations for directing and producing the mini-series “American Horror Story: Coven.” He has directed commercials for American Express, Chevrolet and T-Mobile, among others.
